Beautiful pair of vintage Italian decorative wall plaques featuring Renaissance-inspired portrait artwork and traditional scrolling motifs in deep blue, golden yellow, rust, aqua and cream.
The coordinating plaques depict a Renaissance-style gentleman and lady in profile. The gentleman's plaque is inscribed “SANCTO MAIO.”
Both pieces are marked on the reverse “Made in Italy – Decorative Items – SACA” along with additional handwritten production/design markings. One is dated 1997 and the other 1998.
SACA is associated with the traditional ceramic-producing area of Castelli, Abruzzo, Italy, an area renowned for its centuries-old majolica tradition. These pieces have the distinctive Renaissance-inspired decoration associated with Italian Castelli-style ceramics.
Each plaque has an attached metal ring hanger and is ready for wall display. They make a striking pair for an Old World, Tuscan, Renaissance, European, Mediterranean or traditional interior.

Condition:
Vintage condition with visible age-related wear, surface variation, discoloration, edge wear and patina. The metal hanging hardware shows oxidation/rust consistent with age. The backs show production marks, surface wear and discoloration. Please review all photographs carefully, as they are considered part of the description.
The age and existing patina have been left intact rather than aggressively cleaned or restored.
